Mayor Ediboy expedites BDCC reorganization

Mayor Ediboy Cobangbang, Jr. instructed the barangay captains not to use anymore their calamity funds for the conduct of disaster clustered trainings, in a special meeting of the Liga ng mga Barangay held at the SB-ABC Hall, August 10.
 

The meeting aimed to expedite the reorganization of the Barangay Disaster Coordinating Council (BDCC) of the municipality's barangay.

Prior to this, MPDO Coordinator Florante Jara requested all barangay captains to reorganize their BDCC's to get ready for the conduct of disaster trainings to be facilitated be the Philippine National Police (PNP, the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), the Bereau of Fire Protection (BFP), the DILG and the Local Goverment Unit.

In the meeting that followed, the barangay captains aired their concerns about their P1,400.00 contribution for the said trainings; Mayor Ediboy assured them that the municipality would shoulder the contribution.

HEALTH, A PRIORITY OF THE PRESENT ADMINISTRATION

Cabugao, Ilocos Sur – With the increasing price of basic commodities, comes along the skyrocketing prices of primary health care, that’s why the present administration recruited recently new nurses in the Municipal Health Office of Cabugao. These four new nurses are:  Jennifer Rabor, Rachelle Tejada, Christina Ragunjan, and Rainier Pablico.  

Mayor Ediboy S. Cobangbang, Jr. believed that these additional nurses would strengthen the municipal health office workforce to reach out to more constituents. The new volunteer nurses’ first task was “Operation Timbang”, piloted at Barangay Namruangan, Cabugao. The result of the said operation will be presented to the Mayor, to obtain funds for deworming and supplemental feeding.

According to Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Rudy M. Singson, the Municipal Mayor also supplied additional essential medicines, to revive the barangay health stations and to establish a lying-in clinic.

Added to these proposed improvements in healthcare are the usual activities like anti-leprosy campaign, National Tuberculosis Program, and the National Family Planning Program. LGU supports farmers with rice and corn programs

One of the initial programs the administration of Mayor Ediboy Cobangbang undertook was to provide assistance to farmers. One thousand packs of Free Hybrid Palay Seeds amounting to P630,000.00 were given to farmers with irrigated areas during the palay wet cropping season on July 2010. A month after, another 4,026 packs of Free Hybrid Palay Seeds worth 4.2 million pesos were given to farmers.  This assistance aims to increase production of rice for self-sufficiency in our municipality.

Palay farmers were also provided with financial assistance through a soft loan scheme with an interest rate of 1% a month. This program is tied up with palay traders who received and distributed the amount to the farmers and are responsible in collecting payments from the farmers.

Similar to this program is the distribution of fertilizers, particularly ammonium sulfate, in the amount of 2.5 million pesos to farmers.

The distribution of these seeds and fertilizers is properly facilitated primarily due to the utilization of the Farmers’ ID. All legitimate farmers in the municipality were issued Farmers’ Identification Cards for proper documentation. Around 4,000 farmers have been issued with their IDs and have been provided with assistance.
