TALENTS UNLIMITED: THE VOICE OF THE NEW GENERATION

There goes the saying that a music is  an alternative therapy  – music soothes the nerve!

This was not only the benefits derived from it when the Local Government Unit of Cabugao headed by Mayor Ediboy Cobangbang, Jr. and ABC Chairman, Brgy. Rizal Brgy. Captain Teddy U. Soller sponsored a musical singing contest: young and adult category that was held at  the Cabugao Central Park Stage every Saturday Night that started on February  2011 and ended on April 27, 2011 where big prizes were at stake for those winners.

This weekend show delighted the public and the audience upsurged when the initial casting of host were presented Allen Christian Ubaldo from Brgy. Carusipan who used to imitate the comic style and gimmickry of popular TV showman Vice Ganda and tagged himself as “Pambansang Kabayo” together with the handsome baby-faced guy Mr. Kevin Somera, a bachelor employee of the BIR and a son of Mr. Bubot Somera, also a handsome music patron of the town who helped organized this show.

The townspeople were accustomed to recreate themselves every Saturday Night to view the promising singers who portrayed their skills and singing prowess to the reverberating public.

The  show was blended with dance number from jolly participants and an intermission number by the former singing champions of amateur singing contests held in other places in the previous days. This set-up made the show unique and uncommon that is why the viewers were always eager to wait the next Saturday  battle of good singers to come.

It culminated on the date of elimination for the semi-final portion and it lasted on the battle of the Grand Final where big prizes at stake. In the children category, _Alizon Joyce Ribunal of Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur  won over number of contestants while Zandro Ventura of Laoag City garnered the top  in the adult category. They were awarded instantly just after the Grand Finals Night on April 27, 2011.

It cannot be overemphasized the  beneficial impact to the townsfolk. Likewise, the barangay people swarmed in the CCP ground during Saturday Night and exchanging pleasantries and jokes to the hosts. The main objective of the show has to develop the potentialities of singers for their welfare. The organizers were planning to make a tie-up with a regular singing contest program in the Metro Vigan to improve further the talents in seeking addittional fortunes in singing.

The LGU-Cabugao wants to try it again this show in the near future because it will not only recreate the people of the barangays and poblacion but the benefits derived from it  counts   than that of the monetary value. #  (Joed Sajonia)
