HEALTH, A PRIORITY OF THE PRESENT ADMINISTRATION

Cabugao, Ilocos Sur – With the increasing price of basic commodities, comes along the skyrocketing prices of primary health care, that’s why the present administration recruited recently new nurses in the Municipal Health Office of Cabugao. These four new nurses are:  Jennifer Rabor, Rachelle Tejada, Christina Ragunjan, and Rainier Pablico.

Mayor Ediboy S. Cobangbang, Jr. believed that these additional nurses would strengthen the municipal health office workforce to reach out to more constituents. The new volunteer nurses’ first task was “Operation Timbang”, piloted at Barangay Namruangan, Cabugao. The result of the said operation will be presented to the Mayor, to obtain funds for deworming and supplemental feeding.

According to Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Rudy M. Singson, the Municipal Mayor also supplied additional essential medicines, to revive the barangay health stations and to establish a lying-in clinic.

Added to these proposed improvements in healthcare are the usual activities like anti-leprosy campaign, National Tuberculosis Program, and the National Family Planning Program. The MHO proposed to the Mayor and the Municipal Council a yearly medical mission. # (Source,  Anara-ar Magazine, August 2010)
