ILOCOS SUR STATE OF THE ART SPORTS COMPLEX, NOW OPEN TO PUBLIC

Bantay, Ilocos Sur - The provincial government of Ilocos Sur headed by Governor Ryan Singson formally inaugurates the Quirino Stadium located in this town Saturday afternoon.
Msngr. Garry Formoso solemnizes the blessing of the newly built infrastructure witnessed by the provincial government officials, Department of Education Regional Director Dr. Alma Ruby Torio and other officials, Tourism Council headed by Mr. Eddie Quirino, sports enthusiasts and representatives of different sectors.

The project is a product of a dream of the provincial government since Gov. Ryan Singson assumed office in 2013.  The planning has started by bringing the ideas into reality. The stadium which was used to be an idle and bare place has little by little renovated. Different sports facilities are installed such as basketball courts, lawn tennis court, the rubberized race track, the artificial turf in the football field which measures 110 meters by 75 meters length and 100 meters by 64 meters width.

“We made a State of the art sport facilities to hone our athletes, and we look forward of bringing the Palarong Pambansa here in the province on 2018. This is open to all local clubs for the different trainings for athletes. We are very happy that our dreams now came into reality. Our Quirino Stadium is the 3rd world class sports complex in the country,” says Gov. Ryan.

The first football game between Ilocos Sur team and R1AA team unveils the world class football field through the participation of the Gov. Ryan Singson, Dr. Ruby Torio, sports coordinators and coaches of the Region 1 Athletic Association during the ceremonial toast.

The Department of Education commends the leadership of Gov. Singson which paves way to the construction of this state of the art Sports Complex. This will boost sports development among the youth.

“This reminds me of the remarkable moment when our R1AA team garnered the one of the most coveted award during the Palarong Pambansa which is the ‘most disciplined award’ despite lack of resources, trainings and facilities. With this kind of sports facilities you have in your province right now, I am confident that the athletes’ skills will be more developed.”  Dr. Ruby Torio, DepEd Regional Director acclaims.

Meanwhile, aside from the constructed sports facilities, Provincial Sports Coordinator Marius Cabudol says that the construction of the first ever beach volleyball court inside a stadium is underway. There will also be covered court for indoor activities such as badminton and table tennis, boxing ring, wide and infinity swimming pool and quarters or billeting area to be constructed. The new football field will be open to public but the sports committee sets rules in order to preserve and maintain the structure.
