ILOCANOS’ BEST QUALITIES TO PREVAIL IN HOSTING PALARONG PAMBANSA 2018

Ilocanos are known for their hospitality, diligence, and humility so these are the expected from the residents in the province when they become host to 15,000 visitors during the Palarong Pambansa 2018 (National Games) that will open on April 15 at the President Elpidio Quirino stadium in Bantay town.

Governor Ryan Luis V. Singson said that some of the regions will be in the province on the third week of March to get the feel of the sporting venues, so every resident is urged to help in welcoming them, treating them with respect, hoping that they will show what the goodness of Ilocanos.

“All residents are urged to help in the success of the biggest sports event in the country which will usher additional income to all sectors of the community in the province,” Singson said.

To ensure safety of all delegates of the Palarong Pambansa, the peace-keeping forces from the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be installed in key areas especially in the 14 towns that will host the visitors but the governor said the effort must not only come from them, but also from each resident. 

Supt. Marlo Castillo, Vigan City police chief, said that his team is ready and is continuously preparing other plans to meet demands during the games. 

“But all our efforts will be complete with the cooperation of the whole community and of every resident,” said Castillo.

The provincial government has come up with the Metro Vigan Traffic Coordinating Council which has been organized to plan, implement, and maintain smooth traffic flow in the areas affected like this city and the towns of Caoayan, San Vicente, Santa Catalina and Bantay.
