MISS BANTAY CROWNED AS SANIATA TI ILOCOS 2016

Nicka Abigail Corpuz, 19, reigned the prestigious Saniata ti Ilocos 2016 held at Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur. She was crowned the fairest among the 33 lovely candidates after hitting the question of the hosts during the Q & A portion which goes: “In the year 2018, the province of Ilocos Sur will be celebrating its 200-year of provincehood, what is the significance does this celebration have to you as Ilocana and as an Ilocosurian?”

“As an ilocana it is an epitome of happiness and for me as an individual, it is an extension of the culture and heritage in the heart among ilocanos.  Celebrating 200 years in 2018 is a grateful for us that Ilocos sur has soar a lot of experiences from the past and it is time for us to stand out to reach to the top that us, ilocanos has a soul pride when it comes to sharing our tradition and culture and trade not only here in the Philippines but also to the entire world and for me as an ilocana, it’s an honor for me to forward this advocacy”,  Nicka answered where she garnered astounding applause from the audience.

Nicka Abigail Corpuz is a political science student of St. Louise University in Baguio City and one of her aspirations is to become a lawyer.

Meanwhile, the beauty from Narvacan, Gizelle- Ann Car Albaran was also crowned as Miss Saniata ti Ilocos World.   Miss Sinait Christine Juliane Opiaza is Miss Saniata ti Ilocos Tourism, Miss Vigan Michelle Abcede is Miss Saniata ti Ilocos Environment and Miss Sigay Charlyn Villena and Miss Cervantes April Soliven are Miss Saniata ti Ilocos 1st and 2nd runners up.

The pageant was hosted by Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa and RNB Singer Jay-Ar. The set of judges composed of combinations of beauty queens in the Philippines, celebrities and DOT officials.

The Saniata ti Ilocos Sur is one of the grand highlights of the 9thedition of Kannawidan Festival.

“This kind of activity is meaningful for us Ilocos Surians where it showcases the beauty, poise and intelligence in the Ilocana woman”, Governor Ryan said.

It is also a venue to promote the locally designed products made up of abel iloco referring worn by the ladies during the event.

The winners of this prestigious pageant will represent Ilocos Sur in national beauty contests such as Binibining Pilinas, Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss Earth Philippines.  #  Source – PIO Ilocos Sur
