DILG SUPPORTS THE 29TH NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH CELEBRATION

Since the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 647 on 20 September 1990 by then President Corazon C. Aquino, the month of October has been celebrated as the National Statistics Month (NSM). The annual celebration, through the conduct of statistics-related activities, aims to promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society as well as elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

Now on its 29th year, the NSM is being celebrated with the overall theme “Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statistics Towards Sustainable Tourism Development.” The month-long celebration will be comprised of various activities sponsored by different national government agencies (NGAs), government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), local government units (LGUs), the academe, and other private companies and organizations. These activities include symposia, workshops, orientation-seminars, exhibits, publications of statistical reports, indicators and other relevant information, among others. The official streamer for the 29th NSM shall also be posted on the building facade of the government agencies at the central, regional, and LGU levels throughout the month.
