Cabugao, Ilocos Sur- M/S Caledonian Sky, an international cruise ship brought less than a hundred of tourists from Australia and Europe to the province of Ilocos Sur to experience the historic tourist destinations for the second time.
The ship docked at the historic Salomague Port in the municipality of Cabugao. It was on May 2015 when the ship made its first visit in the province and brought 176 foreign guests.
Local cultural performances welcomed the tourists upon their arrival to the beach line of Salomague Port. The tourists enjoyed as they participate in the dance presentation performed by the Ryan’s Angels.
They first visited the well-preserved century-old Bantay bell tower and Nuestra Señora de La Caridad Church found at Bantay - a town nearby the Heritage City of Vigan. History says, Bantay bell served as a watch tower during the Spanish Colonial Era.
Mainly, foreign visitors spent much of their time at the prestigious Wonder City of Vigan. They visited the well-preserved centuries-old Spanish houses at Calle Crisologo, the different museums which include the Syquia Mansion, National Museum and the Crisologo Museum and the century-old pottery making industry.
“The coming of our guests can help in advertising our unique tourist spots. They can tell their inimitable experiences here in our place to their friends that may possibly lead to higher number of tourist arrivals in our province,” Gov. Ryan added.
After visiting the different places, they tasted the native Ilocano foods at the Hidden Garden which is known for being a tropical restaurant in Asia.
“The City is full of Historic cultures. You made a warm welcome and we are so blessed that we reach your place. Our holidays became meaningful because of this”, tourist expressed.
