DEPED'S EARLY SCHOOL REGISTRATION STILL ON

The Department of Education (DepEd) reiterated its call for early registration for the school year 2016-2017 to all public elementary and high school students.

Darius Nieto, DepEd information Officer in the Ilocos, said the early registration started in January 30 and will end on February 29, 2016.

“The early registration process will  give enough time to ensure that all school-age children are enrolled. And since the  the nationwide implementation of Senior High School program will begin this school year, parents must register them early, “ Nieto said during the KBP Forum held at the Philippine Information Agency Office on Thursday.

Nieto said Kindergarten pupils should at least be five years old by June 1, 2016 and that Kindergarten completers  will be accepted in Grade 1.

Meanwhile, Senior High School students who will register early can decide more on  job opportunities that suit their interest, he added.

With the cooperation of Local Government Units (LGU), parent-teachers associations, barangay officials, civil society groups, civic organizations and the business sector, DepEd employs the house-to-house campaign and meetings to locate the students who have not been able to attend school, or those who have stopped going school with the aim of bringing them back to the learning institutions, Nieto said. # Source - (MCA/JENNIFER A.
