INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

The United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/47/3 adopted in 14 October 1992 and amended by Resolution A/RES/48/97 dated 20 December 1993 and General Assembly Resolution 62/127 dated 18 December 3 as the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Philippines Proclamation No. 1157 on October 16, 2006 declared December 3 and every year thereafter as the International Day for Persons with Disabilities in the Philippines.

The 2018 celebration revolves around the United Nations adopted theme “Empowering Persons with Disabilities and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality” and the Philippines’ adjunct theme “Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan Para sa Taong May Kapansanan” (Job, Enterprise and Livelihood for Persons with Disabilities that are aligned to the 2030 Agenda pledging to “leave no one behind” towards a peaceful and prosperous world, where dignity of an individual person and equality among all is applied as the fundamental principle. # Source: DILG MC No. 2018-206
