PGIS INITIATED PROVINCE-WIDE JOB FAIR 2016

Ilocos Sur Provincial Capitol was filled with hundreds of jobseekers to grab the province wide Job fair initiated by the Provincial Government headed by Governor Ryan Luis V. Singson and Department of Labor and Employment to lessen the rising percentage of Unemployment rate in the country.

According to the Department of Employment Region 1, there is an increase of percentage of unemployment in the region compared last year. “We have around 90 percent unemployment rate within our region. We need to lessen this into single digit”, Regional Dir. Grace Y. Ursua, DOLE-RO1 said.

Both Provincial Government and DOLE believe that conducting this activity can help address the increasing number of unemployed Filipinos. Leading people to land a job can help them more productive as a citizen and to live a prosperous life and at the same time it lessens the poverty rate.

“I was so blessed that in my birthday, hundreds of people could eventually land a job. I thank DOLE for giving assistance to our jobseekers and for giving reality to my wish, to help people by having a stable job for their living” Gov. Ryan expressed.

Twenty-eight (28) local and twelve (12) overseas companies participated the activity. Both local and overseas companies are seeking for skilled and professional workers such as certified accountants, nurses, engineers and other man power jobs.

2,220 job vacancies for local and 500 job vacancies for abroad were offered to jobseekers.

The activity provides an avenue both to the fresh graduates and to those who are willing to work abroad to immediately land a job without spending much time and effort because lots of companies came into one place offering different job vacancies.

The activity is initiated by Governor Ryan Luis V. Singson in celebration of his birthday on June 1, 2016. He believes, a birthday makes an essence through helping others rather than receiving material gifts. #  SOURCE – PIO ILOCOS SUR
