CABUGAO, A RECIPIENT OF THE SEAL OF GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

The Local Government Unit of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur qualified as recipient of the Seal of Good Housekeeping from the Department of Interior and Local Government. Through a memorandum dated December 23, 2011, Secretary Jesse Robredo informed OIC Regional Director of DILG, Ms. Julie Daquioag of provinces, cities and municipalities who passed the Goal of Good Housekeeping and have qualified as recipients of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) in Region I.

The LGSF, according to the memo, “shall be utilized as capital expenditures and shall be used to augment their respective approved 2012 Annual Investment Plan”. The municipality will receive P800,000.00 and has allotted the fund for the improvement of coastal road in Brgy. Pug-os with the construction of a seawall in this coastal barangay. As everybody might be familiar with the barangay, it is a major tourist destination not only in the municipality but in the province as well.

The objective of this DILG program is to “renew commitment to aggressively scale up interventions aimed at elevating the practice of good housekeeping that values desirable development outcomes into institutionalized status.” It “accords primacy to the principle of accountability and transparency.” During the municipality’s evaluation, it satisfied areas on sound fiscal management & accountable and transparent governance.
