PHILIPPINE STATISTICS AUTHORITY GRANTS CLEARANCE TO THE SURVEY RESEARCH FOR FILIPINO 2040

On January 7, 2016, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issued clearance for the conduct of the Survey Research for Filipino 2040. The survey passed through the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism established by the PSA, to ensure sound statistical design of censuses or surveys proposed or conducted by agencies in the government.

The Survey Research for Filipino 2040 was conceptualized by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and the said agency has contracted the Philippine Survey and Research Center, Inc. (PSRC) for the conduct of the survey. The survey is in line with the NEDA's Long-Term Visioning exercise for the country and is intended to reflect the shared vision of Filipinos of their desired state of development after 25 years. As such, the statistical activity will collect information regarding the aspirations, values, and principles of Filipinos.

The data collection phase of the survey will run from January to February 2016 and will be administered to 10,000 households nationwide. A budget of PhP11,489,840 is allotted for the conduct of the survey to cover expenses on personal activities, training, freight, communication, and printing, among others.

Results of the survey are expected to be released through a public forum or symposium in April 2016. These results will be used to generate a document that will serve as a reference for succeeding administrations in terms of development planning for the country.

In light of this, the public is enjoined to participate in the survey.

The SSRCS likewise ensures that these statistical activities conform to standard definitions, concepts, and classifications and that statistics generated from these activities are reliable, comparable, and accurate.

In particular, the SSRCS checked for the following in the aforementioned survey:

Sound design for data collection;

Minimized burden on the respondents;

Effective economy in the conduct of the survey; and

Elimination of duplications in data collection # Source -  www. psa.gov.ph
