PHILIPPINE ARMY AWARDS PGIS

The Philippine Army celebrated its 118th founding anniversary last March 23, 2015. Part of the celebration was the awarding of Command Plaque to stakeholders for supporting the Army’s community-based peace and development initiative and projects.

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, the only local government unit (LGU) awardee; National Bookstore Foundation, Inc., HERO Foundation, Inc., and the Leonio Group of Companies received Command Plaques.

Defense Sec. Voltaire Gazmin and Phil. Army chief Lt. Gen Hernando Iriberri presented the award. Ilocos Sur Provincial Administrator Cara Peredo represented Gov. Ryan Singson in accepting the said award.

“On behalf of our Gov. Ryan Singson and the whole Provincial Government, I wish to thank the Philippine Army for recognizing our sincerest  efforts in helping them implement  various programs and projects for the betterment  of  our community.“, Peredo said.

The Philippine Army also declared Ilocos Sur as peaceful and friendly province during the first year of Gov. Ryan’s administration. Some of their programs supported by the Prov’l Gov’t are the conduct of medical missions and tree planting activities. The PGIS also provided additional materials for the construction of some structures at the Phil. Army’s camp here in the province.

“We are here to support our Philippine Army in the best possible way that we can. This is vital for the sustainability of a peaceful and friendly province.” Gov. Singson said. # Adapted News, PIO-Ilocos Sur
