DEPED-RO1 INTENSIFIES DENGUE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN!

SCHOOL HEADS in Region 1 were urged to conduct Brigada Kalinisan and Dengue Prevention Campaign.

This was announced by the Department of Education Regional Office 1 (DepEd-RO1) Regional Director Alma Ruby C. Torio, during the launching of the program held at the Don Eulogio De Guzman Memorial National High School (DEGMNHS) Calumbaya, Bauang, La Union on Nov. 4, 2015.

Director Torio emphasized the necessity of helping one another in cleaning school compound and the surroundings to minimize if not totally eradicate the prevalence of dengue cases. “Sana ‘yong battle cry na dengue prevention ay hindi magtapos sa gawaing ito, ako po ay lalong matutuwa kung wala na pong makakaranas ng dengue, kaya sana sabay-sabay nating labanan ang dengue sa pamamagitan ng paglilinis sa ating kapaligiran, so it’s a challenge,” the director said.

The DepEd together with the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Municipality of Bauang launched the program at the DEGMNHS after more than 80 students suffered from dengue. No casualty however, was recorded.

The DOH allocated 30 rolls of Insecticide Treated Nets, purposely to be used as curtain of the school’s 30 classrooms. The mosquitoes will not only be trapped but will die as they touch the screen.

Regional Director Myrna C. Cabotaje of the DOH, on the other hand, advised that anyone who is suffering from fever must not hesitate to undergo consultation. This is to avoid complications that may be brought by dengue like dehydration, bleeding and hemorrhage. # Source – depedro1.com.ph
