Cabugao, Ilocos Sur - The Municipal Government of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur headed by Mayor Edgardo S. Cobangbang, Jr. through its implementing arm the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) held earthquake drills at the Municipal Hall Building and vicinities on November 14, 2014 as part of the disaster preparedness activities. With the sounds of an alarm, the LGU Employees of the said building were instructed to go outside and stay out as the search and rescue personnel pushed through their operations. The search and rescue operation team was composed of MDRRMC Personnel headed by MDRRMC Officer Engr. Nestor B. Somera and assisted by Personnel from the Municipal Police Station headed by COP William N. Nerona and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) headed by Fire Marshal Elmer C. Acapuyan and other volunteer groups in the Municipality.

Likewise, the same drill was conducted by the PDRRMO Personnel in a private institution at Vigan City recently. Governor Ryan Luis V. Singson saying as quoted: “I am happy that the PDRRMO has been doing its job well. With its existence in just a year, it has already done a lot of successful rescue operations. We have seen the hardships encountered and numerous sacrifices the rescuers rendered at the course of their routinary activities in times of disasters.”
The Governor also informed that the other provinces have been congratulating the Ilocos Sur rescuers for their accomplishment and “we are very grateful to that,” Gov. Singson added. In appreciation to their remarkable achievements in disaster preparedness related activities, the provincial government granted the PDRRMO headed by PDRRM Officer Michael Chan to purchase two more rescue vehicles - an ambulance with complete apparatus similar to that of a “mobile clinic” and a 6 x 6 truck that will serve as a rescue ride for evacuees during evacuation.
