PGIS INITIATES FISHERY PROJECTS FOR FISHERFOLKS

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur and Provincial Agriculture Office disperse fish paraphernalia to coastal barangays to increase fish production in the province.

Governor Ryan Luis V. Singson initiates in providing fish equipment through fishery project for fisherfolks to secure the sustenance of the families dependent on fishing and to increase the fish production in the province.

Fourteen motorized bangka, nine payao unit, one thousand five hundred pieces of fingerlings and fish nets were distributed to the organization. “PGIS is doing this because we want to improve the quality of life of the fisher folks and to attract investors and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to give more funds for the improvement of our coastal areas”, Gov. Ryan added.

Provincial Agriculturist Mr. Constante B. Botacion, Jr.  recognizes PGIS especially Gov. Ryan for giving continues projects among fish farmers. “This project will bring progress to our fisherfolks and to the fishery sector of our province”, he added.

The project, aside from improving the economic life of the fish farmers, this would also encourage them to depart or not to engage in illegal fishing and be more productive and responsible citizens. 

Meanwhile, the newly elected Ilocos Sur Federated Fisherfolk Association officials and their members took their oath infront of the Provincial Officials to perform their duties and responsibilities to benefit their organization and the entire province. #  Source – PIO Ilocos Sur
