Cabugao, Ilocos Sur - A Parade around the town signaled the start of the annual Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Cluster 1 Competition that participated in by the Five (5) private schools of the First District of Ilocos Sur namely Cabugao Institute (Cabugao); Benito Soliven Academy, (Sto. Domingo); Magsingal Institute (Magsingal; San Juan Institute (San Juan) and St. William’s Institute (Magsingal) on October 23, 2014.
The Contested Events will be held at the CI Quadrangle and different venues that includes the Cabugao Athletic Ground located at the Cabugao South Central School at Brgy. Bonifacio and the Cabugao Cultural and Sports Complex, Brgy. Rizal, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
The events are Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Taekwondo, Lawn Tennis, Softball, Sepak Takraw, Soccer, Scrabble, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Chess.
Games were scheduled in the two-day (October 23-24) period of competition.
Before the Game Proper, a short program was held at the CI Quadrangle. Words of Welcome was given by Ms. Mae P. Principe, MAPEH Coordinator. After the Raising and Hoisting of Banner of the five schools, the Oath of Amateurism was led by Rhea Jane Ancheta CI PM Softball Player. Lighting of Torch was done by Dominic Ian Sajor, CI RIAA Soccer Player.
SBM Dr. Jemaima Soller Tan-Yee, Committee Chair on Education of the Sangguniang Bayan of this town represented Mayor Edgardo “Ediboy” S. Cobangbang, Jr. in giving Inspirational Message.
Dr. Tan-Yee welcomed all athletes and delegates of the five private schools and expressed her wish that this two-day multi-sport competition will become successful.
The young legislator added that participation in athletics has become a part of our culture and it provides a variety of ways to positively develop our youth. She said that the educational effects of these endeavor will give additional skills and knowledge that may increase the chances of a youth to become successful in the future.
She stressed further that the athletes should be properly prepared to develop sportsmanship and maintaining discipline during the competition. The character building traits that youth sports provide also aids in the physical and emotional development of the youth and helps them live a healthier lifestyle by getting them always active.
After an Intermission number performed by CI Cheerdance Champions, Miss Maria S. Rondon, CI Principal and Cluster 1 Chairwoman formally declared the Opening of the Cluster Meet. After this, a Ceremonial Toss was done by the Five (5) School Heads namely, Miss Maria S. Rondon, Principal, Cabugao Institute; Ms. Marivic Realin, Principal, Benito Soliven Academy; Sr. Mary Glyceria Navarro, SPC, St. William’s Institute; Ms. Fay Pascua, Principal, San Juan Institute and Mr. Dennie T.
