THE “M/S CALEDONIA SKY”, A CRUISE SHIP DOCK AT SALOMAGUE PORT

Cabugao, Ilocos Sur — The “M/S Caledonia Sky”,a Cruise ship, brought 176 of its foreign guests from Australia and Britain to the historic Salomague Port in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, recently.

It was the first time for a  cruise ship to dock in the Salomague Port in eight decades.

Historically, the Port served as a mooring place from boats that ferried across the Pacific where thousands of Ilocanos worked at sugar plantations in Hawaii and California from 1900’s to 1940’s. Meanwhile, the ship’s visit was made last week between its cruise from Japan to Taiwan. “The first “port of call” of the cruise ship was the Salomague Port in Cabugao as the tourists wanted to visit historical places in Ilocos Sur.
Mayor Edgardo “Ediboy” S. Cobangbang, Jr. together with the members of the Sangguniang Bayan welcomed the tourists by personally meeting them at said place. # PIO-Ilocos Sur (Web In-Action)
